The person credited with this unit standard can identify and assess the risk of a potential spill, confine a spill should it happen and evaluate the incident to ensure a correct, safe clean up. They are also able to complete the required documentation in accordance with organisational procedures.
A person credited with this unit standard is capable of:
- Identifying and assessing the risk.

- Evaluating the incident and implementing clean up.
- Completing required documentation and reports.
- Selecting approaches to investigations which are appropriate for specified contents

- Evaluate the incident and implement clean up.
- Incident is reassessed to develop a plan of action for implementing the spill clean-up plan.

- Hazardous waste is identified and dealt with in according to international safety guidelines.
- Site, personnel, and equipment are decontaminated according to standard operating procedures.
